has come across too many MTSOs calling people ICs when they are being treated like employees and should be employees. Mass probably has a more active Division of Taxation as far as enforcement and has gone after a few companies for misclassifying employees as ICs, maybe even Mobile Assistant, so they know they can't get away with it in Mass. I don't think any laws have changed, just the ones already existing are aggressively enforced. As far as TTS not hiring in Mass, it may be because of the higher minimum wage and the new law that just took effect on July 1 that 1 hour of sick time must be accrued for every 30 hours worked. I worked there, and I live in Rhode Island. We have the same minimum wage, $9, but not the sick time law.
