It is always refreshing to hear a new perspective. Most of us have been doing this so long and are mired in so much actual experience of the MT industry that we have probably become blinded by reality.
We know the industry has passed its prime because we've actually seen it happen. This can make it difficult to be persuaded by the smoke and mirrors the MT schools employ to attract new students. Clearly, we have become too stupid to be reliable judges of this wonderful, lucrative industry.
Every now and then, though, the cosmos sends us a breath of fresh air to point out how stupid we really are and that it is only our lack of faith that has reduced our opportunities and our income.
So thank you for reminding us that reality is overrated and if only we belieeeeeve hard enough, we will discover the unicorn (a lucrative MT job), and it will be farting rainbows and carrying a basket of kittens.
You're probably right. This industry is likely full of opportunity, but we've become incompetent to recognize it because of having actual experience with it, so nobody should pay any attention to us.
(Yes, Sheldon. That was sarcasm).
