Has always required a background check. I have always worked in a hospital setting until the past 10 years when I have done MT at home, and they have always run a criminal background check, and several also run credit checks. The job I have been offered deals with the auditing of medical records in a large hospital system in my area, and they do background checks as well as drug screens.
