It has nothing to do with each day. Everything is calculated over 7 days, Sunday to Saturday.

The company has to calculate two sets of figures and pay whichever is higher:
1. Total schedule.
2. Total lines.

Translations:
1. Total schedule - you are available for your entire shift, which is 40 hours. Earnings: 40 x 7.25 = $290.
2. Total lines - during the same 40 hours you type 842 lines and edit 4,871 lines. Your typing rate is 7.5 cpl and your editing rate is 4 cpl. Your earnings are:
842 x 0.075 = $63.15
3,871 x 0.04 = $154.84
Total earnings: $217.99

In this case, they company has to pay you $290.00, since your actual production did not reach that amount. If your production earnings was $290.01, that is what you would be paid.

That's why you company needs to have you clock in at the beginning of your shift and out at the end of your shift, and also clock in and out for any breaks or lunch that you take.
