For one of the accounts I work on I am paid 6 cents per gross line. It's all clinic work. I usually make around $16 per hour for that account, but one doctor gives a long list of diagnoses for each patient and I make around $25 to $30 for him. Even though it is not a character count, you still have to know what the margins are to consider the offer. If they are 1" left and right margins, if the doctors aren't horrible, and if you aren't spending forever looking up addresses, you could conceivably make out okay. I would still say it is too low for IC pay, though.
