My rent alone is more than half my income. When I changed jobs and was on COBRA before my ins. kicked in, I had to pay that out of my savings. Now the savings is gone, so if I change jobs again someday, I'll just have to go without COBRA. Registering and insuring my car means that I can rarely afford to put gas in it and drive it. If a pet gets an expensive injury or illness, whereas in the past I could raid the savings for that, too, now most likely the pet would have to be euthanized. Even though I have insurance, the copayments keep getting higher and higher, and as a result I haven't gone to the doctor for anything in the last couple years, I just tough it out.
