What I mean is that it's a flat percentage taken from your paycheck each month. The amount would be different for each person because each person earns a different income but it's a flat 7.65% unless you are self-employed. The 2009 contribution rate, also known as the FICA tax rate, is 7.65% for employees and 15.30% for self-employed people.
