was looking to hire less experienced workers because they could get them at a lower rate. I am beginning to think that is what it has come down to. 15 years ago, the rate was less than I am working for now, but it has steadily increased over the years, but now I see with the VR being put in place, a lot of companies are really trying to get back down to the lower line rate for transcriptionists. I cannot understand why it is felt that the VR is so terrific. I have done it, and I found the amount of time I spent in some of those documents was no different than if I had typed it myself, yet I would only be getting half of my regular pay. It's crazy. I'm beginning to think I will never find a company who actually cares about their employees. I also wonder if I am being taken advantage of because I am a woman and not a man. Unfortunately, I am without a man to support me and my children, so my dollars mean as much to me as any other man.
